Bulgarians account for 70% of the tourists in the winter resorts, caretaker Minister of Tourism Ilin Dimitrov said for the BNT. The winter season has been successful although it has been difficult. There was no snow across Europe. However, the ski runs were in good condition and hosted the World Cup competitions, Minister Dimitrov noted. 1.4 million tourists were registered in Bulgarian winter resorts, which is 28% more as compared to the previous winter season and 5% more than 2019.

Bulgaria now expects guests for the Easter holidays. Offers for April range from EUR 40 to EUR 150 per day. Advertisement in Romania, Poland and Czechia has been very strong, Ilin Dimitrov said. Nearly 4.7 million tourists are expected to visit Bulgaria this summer. Problems with charter flights are expected due to the lack of enough aircraft and crews. According to Minister Dimitrov, the funding for tourism advertising is insufficient.
