A Ministry of Agriculture and Food statement reads that all possible action is being taken to prevent flooding, including 24-hour surveillance of the facilities. At the same time Plovdiv region is on alert due to the expected heavy rain and the danger of the rivers Maritsa and Stryama breaking their banks in the regions of the town of Stamboliyski and Maritsa municipality.

The situation in the region of Montana continues critical. Besides the town of Berkovitsa, the villages Borovo and Gavril Genovo are also flooded. Water is being pumped out of the nearby dams Klisuritsa and Smirnenski. Some areas of Sofia were also flooded – in the residential districts Suhodol, Simeonovo and Dragalevsti firefighters have been pumping water out of the flooded homes. Sofia villages of Zharava, Yana and the town of Buhovo, part of Sofia's Kremikovtzi district are also badly affected by the heavy rainfall.
