Two-thirds of people in Sofia say inflation and prices are the most important problem: Survey

Vassil Terziev, candidate for mayor of Sofia nominated by PP/DB and Save Sofia would win 33.4% of the votes if the local election was this week, Georgi Georgiev (GERB/SDS) – 22.7%, Deyan Nikolov (Vazrazhdane) – 12%, Vanya Grigorova (Bulgarian Socialist Party) – 10.6%, Vili Lilkov (nominating committee) 4.8%. Georgi Georgiev and Vanya Grigorova have not officially been nominated for mayor. This is indicated by a survey among the residents of Sofia, conducted by the Centre for Analysis and Marketing in July.

Only 5.1% of the respondents in Sofia regard the judicial reform and the amendments to the Constitution as the most serious problem the country faces. 67.3% say the most serious problems are the high prices and inflation, 16.8% point to the fight against corruption, 8.2% - to accession to the Schengen area and the Eurozone.

At 42.1%, Foreign Minister Mariya Gabriel has the highest approval rating among politicians, followed by Prime Minister Nikolay Denkov with 39.3%. Third comes current Sofia city mayor Yordanka Fandakova with 36.9% and President Rumen Radev with 34.3%. Out of the institutions, the government has the highest approval rating – 37.3%, followed by the presidency – 32.2%.
