The Bulgarian Embassy in Athens condemned the behaviour of a 35-year-old Bulgarian detained in the town of Kavala. The Bulgarian brought down the Greek flag at the port of the northern Greek city, put the Bulgarian flag in its place and chanted "This is Bulgaria". The person was detained immediately and charged with desecrating the national flag, the BNR’s correspondent in Greece Katya Peeva reported. He was interrogated by the Greek authorities and was later released without the right to leave Greece until the investigation was completed. In violation of this condition, the Bulgarian travelled to the Greek-Bulgarian border, where he was detained by the Bulgarian Border Police. Currently, he is kept in custody in Drama.
“The behaviour of the person in question is absolutely unacceptable and in total contradiction with the excellent good neighbourly relations between Bulgaria and Greece”, the Bulgarian Embassy in Greece said.
