The town of Vidin (Northwestern Bulgaria) hosts the Blue Danube International Folklore Festival for the fourth consecutive year. The event takes place in the Danube Park and continues until Sunday, September 3.
The festival‘s mission is to preserve, promote and develop Bulgarian folklore, lifestyle, culture and local production. Many popular folklore performers will take the stage during the three-day programme. Amateur ensembles from Northwestern Bulgaria, Kyustendil, Pazardzhik, Varna and Svishtov are to perform at the summer stage in front of the Art Gallery "Nikola Petrov”. Pavilions of artisans and producers of traditional food and drinks have been set up around the town square.
The festival culminates on September 2 when the audience will enjoy the performance of the Philip Koutev National Folk Ensemble. For more than 70 years it has been working with authentic folklore and turning it into performing art.
