The Netherlands wants to send monitoring mission to Bulgaria

The Netherlands wants more information from the European Commission and calls for a mission to find out how the rule of law is implemented in Bulgaria, before deciding whether to support the country’s accession to Schengen, the kingdom's migration minister Eric van der Burg has told BNR.

"We still have to wait for information from the Commission. It is the Commission that must give us the correct information about the rule of law, more precisely about its implementation and monitoring. We also insist on a fact-finding mission. Then we would be able to make a decision," the minister said. Replying to remark by BNR correspondent in Brussels, Angelina Piskova, that the Commission lifted the monitoring over Bulgaria, minister Eric van der Burg replied that this did not satisfy The Hague and they insist on additional information.
