The Bulgarian cycling route along the Danube and the Dobrudja Plain to the Black Sea "Dunav Ultra" has been included in the annual list of the top 50 recommended destinations in the world for 2024 by the travel guide publisher Lonely Planet. The 740-kilometre cycle route is the only one in the Eastern Balkans to be included in the guide, which is a tourist breakthrough for Bulgaria and an opportunity for the development of the region.

The interest in the Bulgarian project comes with the nomination of the international destination "Danube Limes" by Lonely Planet, in which the "Dunav Ultra" is listed as a supporting tourism product with the possibility of a self-organised cycling trip.
The "100 Danube Ultra Sights" include the Baba Vida fortress, the Ulpia Escus near the village of Gigen, the ancient military camp Nove near the town of Svishtov, the Roman fortress Sexaginta Prista in Ruse, the ancient town of Durostorum in Silistra and the Belogradchik fortress.
