A mysterious text message sent to mobile phones by BG-ALERT gave many people in the country a serious fright last night. The message warned of imminent danger. According to social media posts, there are people who went outdoors when they received the text.
It turned out it was all a mistake, and the text was only sent to clients of Vivacom, one of the mobile operators in the country during testing of the warning system. This was explained by Chief Commissioner Alexander Jartov, director of the Directorate General Fire Safety and Civil Protection in an interview with public service TV BNT. He explained further that the mistake which gave clients a fright was made by an employee of the mobile operator company. The company itself issued an official position apologizing for the mistake.
