The national flag on the Borovets hill will be temporarily taken down due to the coming winter months and the lowering of temperatures, announced the Municipality of Yambol. The Bulgarian flag measuring 11 by 18 meters was raised on a fifty-five meter pole in an official ceremony on September 13 this year in the presence of President Rumen Radev.

The decision of the Yambol municipality was made to prevent possible incidents due to the freezing of the flag at sub-zero temperatures. "There is a danger of tearing off the flag, which could pose a risk to the safety of people who are near the facility," the municipality specified.

The flag will be flown again over Yambol when the weather warms up.
