GERB leader Boyko Borissov stated that unless the Ministry of Foreign Affairs is in GERB’s portfolio, there will be no ruling majority, and threatened early elections.

“Clearly and explicitly: Mariya Gabriel – prime minister. The Foreign Ministry, the only one GERB has – goes to us, a minister chosen to protect state, not party interests. If that doesn’t happen there will be no more negotiations,” Boyko Borissov told reporters in parliament.

Delyan Peevski, chair of the parliamentary group of the Movement for Rights and Freedoms (DPS) on his part stated that two-in-one elections – for European Parliament and for national parliament – was not a good option for Bulgaria. “If anyone “breaks” the governing majority, the responsibility for this will rest with We Continue the Change/Democratic Bulgaria (PP/DB),” Delyan Peevski commented, and urged PP/DB to live up to the agreement on the formation of the government, signed with GERB 8 months ago.
