I proposed that the pensions update from July 1, 2024 be set at 11% and the Supervisory Board of the National Social Insurance Institute voted in favour of my proposal, caretaker Minister of Labor and Social Policy Ivaylo Ivanov said. He noted that only the Bulgarian Industrial Capital Association abstained from voting.

''The National Social Security Institute's Supervisory Board is the body that decides on the amount of pension updates'', Minister Ivanov said in response to a question about whether it is appropriate for Parliament to hold an extraordinary session on the issue of pension increases. Fifty MPs from "We Continue the Change - Democratic Bulgaria" requested that the 49th Parliament holds an extraordinary session on May 15 to discuss the issue.
