Bulgaria remains at the top of EU's tobacco smoking rates chart

The use of tobacco in Bulgaria has decreased by 1% in recent years, but despite this, this country remains in first place in terms of smoking in the European Union, BGNES informs on today's World No Tobacco Day.

About 32% of children between 13 and 15 years of age smoke cigarettes. 30% of girls and 21% of boys above the age of 15 smoke cigarettes. According to the Center for Public Health, about 40% of the adult population uses tobacco.

Smoking is one of the main causes of 18% of all deaths in this country, according to the data of the Health Profile of Bulgaria prepared by the European Commission.
