Euro Commissioner for Home Affairs Ylva Johansson expressed expectations for the abolition of internal Schengen land borders for Bulgaria and Romania by the end of the year. Commissioner Johansson is attending the two-day EU Justice and Home Affairs Council meeting in Luxembourg.
"Bulgaria and Romania are already part of Schengen. All that remains is to abolish checks at internal borders. I expect this to happen later this year", Johansson told journalists.
