There is sufficient European funding for culture under the RRP, says Minister Nayden Todorov

Bulgaria has been allocated 48.6 million euro for culture under the Recovery and Resilience Plan (RRP), interim Culture Minister Nayden Todorov said. The ministry has to revise the first two of six programmes in the sector to receive the first instalment.

According to Nayden Todorov, never before had so much money been allocated to Bulgarian culture outside the state sector as in the case of the RRP. Todorov stressed that three major changes had been made and that the 149 organisations that had applied so far would have to revise their projects.

This is necessary to save the first two programmes of the RRP and ensure that Bulgaria's cultural sector receives a tranche of 22.5 million leva (just over 11 million euro).

"The idea is to work across the European Union and be competitive. There is money, a lot of money," added Nayden Todorov.
