Today the Bulgarian Socialist Party (BSP) is gathering thousands of supporters of leftist ideas at its traditional festive rally under the Buzludzha peak in the Balkan Mountains to mark 133 years since the beginning of the organised socialist movement in Bulgaria. On the eve of the event, representatives of 15 left-wing political parties signed a document on the formation of the so-called Broad Left Front. Among them are the BSP, The Left! party, Stand up, Bulgaria and others.

"We are not just making a mathematical addition, we are calling for a real consolidation of left-thinking people and for a left-wing government of the country," said BSP deputy leader Atanas Zafirov. He explained that the unification was inspired by the model of France, where left-wing formations created a united front literally overnight.
