600 'fighters' engage in epic airsoft simulation for Haskovo Town Day

A record number of 600 "fighters" have gathered at the Uzundzhovo airbase, not for a military conflict, but to celebrate Haskovo's town day. The highlight of the 8 September festivities is an airsoft game, a military simulation that has attracted participants from Greece, Romania, Serbia, Croatia and the Republic of North Macedonia. The event is co-organised by the Municipality of Haskovo and the Airsoft Sofia Association.



This is the third year in a row that airsoft games have been held as part of the Haskovo city holiday. People of all ages and professions from across the country have responded to the invitation and joined the battles. 

According to the pre-planned scenario, the action takes place in the fictional state of Ulpia, where three factions are in conflict: a peacekeeping contingent, the local population and a rebel group. The main conflict is between the rebel faction and the peacekeepers, with the local population caught in the crossfire.



"This scenario reflects situations that have occurred throughout history all over the world," the organisers explain, stressing that the game is not intended to mirror any current real-world conflicts.

The three-day simulated "military" conflict concludes on Sunday and is expected to attract more visitors to Haskovo and add to the festive atmosphere.
