The poverty line for 2025 will be BGN 638 (EUR 326.2), the government has announced. It will increase by BGN 112, or by 21.3% compared to 2024. ''The new poverty line will positively impact vulnerable and low-income groups'', the government said. Social benefits and financial support linked to its value, provided under the Social Assistance Act, the Persons with Disabilities Act and the Child Protection Act, will also rise.

The Confederation of Independent Trade Unions in Bulgaria (CITUB) insisted that the poverty line for 2025 be set at BGN 667 (EUR 341.03). They also called for a change in the methodology used to calculate the poverty line.
