The long-promised modernisation of the production facilities of Bulgaria's only state-owned milk processing company, LB Bulgaricum in Vidin, is about to begin. The Ministry of Economy announced that the modernisation of the production base would be carried out in phases.

In early September, amid rumours of the plant's possible closure, Economy Minister Petko Nikolov visited the Vidin plant and said that its development was a top priority for the ministry.
In addition to the modernisation efforts, this year marks the second salary increase for LB Bulgaricum employees.

LB Bulgaricum is a state-owned company and the successor of the former state-owned Dairy Industry Association. Following the democratic changes in Bulgaria, LB Bulgaricum was granted the right to license the production of authentic Bulgarian yoghurt and related traditional Bulgarian appetizers abroad.
