The Bulgarian Wrestling Federation announced on its website that the national championship in classical wrestling in Vratsa was canceled due to disagreement of the athletes over the drawing of lots. 178 wrestlers from 26 clubs came to the mat but refused to compete.

''The tension started at the technical conference when the new national team coach, Soslan Farniev, announced that he wanted the draw to be orchestrated in some categories. Club representatives disagreed because a double standard was being applied", said the Bulgarian Wrestling Federation. Stefan Toshev, who works as a coach at the Levski wrestling club, said that since Farniev became national coach, there has been favoritism towards foreign wrestlers at the expense of local ones, with rules and procedures being changed.
