The idea of a price ceiling for basic food products has not yet been discussed with the partners in the ruling coalition. According to Prime Minister Rosen Zhelyazkov, direct state intervention in the market for basic consumer goods is unacceptable, but there are control mechanisms available to regulatory authorities. Speaking to the media, Social Minister Borislav Gutsanov pointed out that he did not see this as direct state intervention in the market.

However, DB said they were against the ideas of BSP and DPS - New Beginning, arguing that one of the reasons for the high prices is the weak activity of the regulatory authorities. MP Martin Dimitrov from DB pointed out that "this is an extreme left-wing idea that has never worked anywhere."
