About 700,000 people with varying degrees of disability need various social services and support. This was announced by the Minister of Labor and Social Policy Borislav Gutsanov at the Center for Social Rehabilitation and Integration "St. John of Rila" in the village of Gorna Malina, where he took part in marking the Day of Social Work. According to Gutsanov, more jobs should be provided for people with such problems, as well as higher pensions. It was indicated that there are over 3,000 social services in the country, which are used by about 175,000 Bulgarians.

Gutsanov also pointed out the role of the church in supporting the vulnerable. The "St. John of Rila" Center was established at the initiative of the Association at the Bulgarian Orthodox Church. There are currently 136 children with special educational needs in this center and there are 263 children in another such center in the municipality of Elin Pelin.
