The Minister of Economy and Industry, Petar Dilov, met with Chris Barton, His Majesty's Trade Commissioner for Europe, who is currently visiting Bulgaria on an official trip. The meeting was also attended by His Excellency Nathaniel Copsey, the United Kingdom's Ambassador to Bulgaria, and Bulgaria's Deputy Minister of Economy and Industry, Nevena Lazarova.
The discussions focused on the possibilities of intensifying the economic partnership and increasing bilateral trade.
Minister Dilov emphasised that the UK is one of Bulgaria's most important foreign trade partners and that their bilateral economic ties are developing positively. According to official data, trade with the UK has regularly exceeded €1 billion per year in recent years, with British companies being among the leading investors in Bulgaria. British direct investment in Bulgaria amounts to €2.6 billion.
