Drawings by over a hundred children from across the country — including fifteen from the Bulgarian Sunday School “Ivan Vazov” in Paris — will be featured in an exhibition opening today at the DP Sivkov Community Centre in Nova Zagora, according to the Bulgarian Telegraph Agency.
The young participants submitted their work to the recent art competition ‘My Village – A Multicolour Story,’ held in the village of Pitovo near Nova Zagora. The event commemorates Mitko Marinov, a respected teacher and artist who was born in the village and taught at Hristo Botev High School in Nova Zagora for many years.
"The competition invited children to explore and express their own vision of the Bulgarian village. While many of the drawings are simple and direct, their sincerity makes them truly meaningful,' says Valentina Penkova, chair of the Geo Milev – 1929 Community Centre in Pitovo and initiator of the project.
Along with the exhibition, there will be a musical performance by Hristiana Yordanova, a dentist and composer who is known for creating songs and video stories that help children to overcome their fear of dental visits, as well as an appearance by child performer Borislav Mihaylov.
