Data from the beginning of the year put Bulgaria among the top 10 EU countries in the increase in the number of tourists, said Minister of Tourism Miroslav Borshosh at the opening of the forum Erlebe Bulgarien in Sunny Beach near Varna on the Black Sea, the Bulgarian news agency BTA reports.

The event, in which around 200 leading tour operators, airline companies and media outlets from Germany are taking part, aims to assert the country as a popular destination with visitors coming from Germany, Austria and Switzerland.

“The answer to the question why choose Bulgaria is that it is a unique place that has to be experienced,” Minister Borshosh said and added that the country is developing a world-standard product across the entire tourism spectrum – sea, mountain, wine, medical, SPA etc. The country went through a difficult period in the past 4 years, he said further, but now there is stability and that matters enormously because in tourism, planning takes place years ahead.
