The engineering plans for the expansion of the Bulgarian Centre in Billerica, New England, USA (BCNE), are ready. According to information from the centre's Facebook page, cited by BTA, the centre and the Bulgarian Church 'St. Petka' are now looking for a contractor.

The centre has announced that the plans were drawn up by volunteer engineer Ivan Filev. It also thanked the Bulgarian community for their ongoing support.

This year, the BCNE, the Bulgarian Church of St Petka and the Bulgarian School of Sts. Cyril and St Methodius have joined forces to raise funds for the extension of the current building in Billerica, which was purchased five years ago. During this time, the BCNE has become a unifying place for the school, the church and the community, as well as hosting a number of public events and organisations. Therefore, representatives of the Bulgarian community hope that the new expansion will meet current needs and open the door to future opportunities.

The Bulgarian Centre in New England was registered as a non-profit organisation dedicated to bringing together people of Bulgarian origin or with an interest in Bulgarian culture in January 2013.

It is home to the Bulgarian Eastern Orthodox Church of St Petka, the Bulgarian School of Sts Cyril and Methodius, and the Bulgarian-American Cultural Centre Madara.
