The 200 people who set out on a pilgrimage called the “Rila miracle-worker” are to arrive at Rila monastery today. The “Rila miracle-worker” journey is part of the Christian pilgrimage trails known as the “Road of faith”.
Rila Monastery

With this pilgrimage journey the participants mark the anniversary of the return of the relics of the patron saint of Bulgaria Saint Ivan (John) of Rila, Miracle-worker from Veliko Tarnovo to Rila Monastery. In 1469, at this time of the year, the monks followed this same trail carrying the holy relics, says Prof. Pavel Pavlov from the Faculty of Theology, as quoted by the Sofia municipality website. The relics have not left the monastery since then.
