Wine tourism is taking centre stage in Bulgaria’s efforts to position itself as a year-round destination. At a recent meeting with the Bulgarian Association for Wine Tourism, Tourism Minister Miroslav Borshosh outlined plans to make wine a strategic complement to the country’s established attractions.
Discussions focused on developing wine routes and fostering cooperation between producers and municipalities. Borshosh also highlighted work on creating a national fund to showcase Bulgaria abroad and to promote wine tourism as part of a broader vision for the sector.
Adding momentum, Bulgaria will host the 9th Global Conference on Wine Tourism in Plovdiv from October 5 to 7, 2025. The event is expected to bring more than 150 international participants, including institutions, experts, academics and media, offering Bulgarian wineries and wine regions a chance to shine on the global stage.
