US Open junior champion Ivan Ivanov and his runner-up Alexander Vasilev are part of Bulgaria's Davis Cup team for the match against Finland in World Group I, BTA reports. The Bulgarian tennis players will host the Scandinavians in the match of the unofficial world team championship for men on September 13 and 14 in Bulgaria's second-biggest city Plovdiv.

In addition to the heroes of the US Open, the Bulgarian team also includes Pyotr Nesterov, Alexander Donski and Yanaki Milev.

The match between Alexander Vasilev and Otto Virtanen will mark the beginning of the clash between the two countries. If successful, our tennis players will play qualification to enter the World Group in February next year, and if they lose, they will have a play-off to remain in World Group I.

Finland leads with 3:2 wins in direct matches against Bulgaria in the history of the Davis Cup. The two teams last met in 2014 in Helsinki, where the hosts won 3-2 in a Group II match in the Europe/Africa zone.
