Bulgarian high school students win four medals at the Balkan Olympiad in Informatics

The Association of Olympic Teams in Natural Sciences announced on Wednesday that Bulgarian high school students had won a gold, a silver and two bronze medals at the 32nd Balkan Olympiad in Informatics, which was held in Udine, Italy. The Bulgarian team competed against almost 50 participants from 12 countries.

Andrey Stefanov won the gold medal and took first place overall. This was his third distinction this year. Daniel Getov won the silver medal. Denislav Manev and Nermin Idiriz, the first Bulgarian girl to compete at the Balkan Olympiad, won bronze medals.

The team was led by Iliyan Yordanov and Dobrin Bashev of the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences’ Institute of Mathematics and Informatics.
