Bulgaria’s Chief Prosecutor submits request to National Assembly to lift immunity of MP Iliya Iliev

Bulgaria’s Chief Prosecutor Sotir Tsatsarov has submitted a request to the National Assembly to lift the immunity from prosecution of MP Iliya Iliev who is part of the parliamentary group of the Movement for Rights and Freedoms. The request is based on an evidence of crime against the political rights of citizens. According to the prosecution, between September 5 and October 5, 2014 Iliya Iliev was offering between EUR 15 and 25 to Roma citizens in Yambol, Southeast Bulgaria to vote for him at the Parliamentary elections on October 5, 2014. MP Iliya Iliev is also a defendant under a criminal case for embezzlement.
