Antigovernment protests in Bulgaria continue for 55th consecutive day

The beginning of the 55th day of protests in Bulgaria has been marked with death threats. Leaflets containing the phrase “Resignation or coffin!” were placed under the windscreen wipers of many vehicles downtown Sofia. It is not clear whether this was done by participants in antigovernment protests or by provocateurs, a BNR correspondent informs. Nova TV showed a doll hung on a bridge over a central boulevard. Last night another doll was hung under the Lovers Bridge downtown Sofia.

Three major intersections in Sofia remain blocked by protesters. The organizers are calling on their supporters to flood Sofia on September 2 for a mass antigovernment protest.
