Twice more people in Sofia will become centenarians in 2021 compared to the previous year, Sofia Municipality has announced. While last year 49 people have reached the age of 100, in 2021 their number is 88.

The first Sofia resident who turned 100 for 2021 is Violeta Kamenova Skobeleva, born on January 1, 1921 in the town of Lom. The lady received a congratulatory address, a plaque with the coat of arms of the capital and flowers from Sofia mayor Yordanka Fandakova. The centenarian arrived in Sofia in 1945 and worked at the ticket centre of the Sofia Electric Transport.
