In an interview with Radio Bulgaria, Minister of Foreign Affairs Teodora Genchovska said Bulgaria would continue to support the legitimate request of Bulgarians in North Macedonia to be included in the constitution of the country, just like other nations are part of it.
"Human rights are a matter of a civilizational choice and are fundamental value of the European Union, which North Macedonia wishes to join," the Bulgarian Foreign Minister said. She added that Bulgaria insisted on progress in the work of the Joint Commission on Historical and Educational Affairs and in the preparation of a calendar for the joint celebration of anniversaries related to personalities that are part of the common history of the countries. Such an agreement has already been reached about historical figures like Tsar Samuel, St. Cyril and St. Methodius, St. Clement, and St. Naum. The minister also called for the start of the process of updating the curriculum in North Macedonia.
Expert groups from Bulgaria and North Macedonia, created on January 25 this year, discuss topics of common interest today and tomorrow in Sofia. On February 11, the first flight on the already announced Sofia-Skopje air route will take place.
