Almost 7 kgs. of gold intercepted at Kapitan Andreevo border check point

During a routine random check, the customs officers at Kapitan Andreebvo border check point intercepted almost 7 kgs. of gold jewellery, worth close to EUR 413,300, the regional press service of the Customs Agency, Svlilengrad has announced.

The biggest amount – 5,446.1 grams of gold, worth over EUR 343,100 was discovered during a thorough inspection of a car transporting four women from Moldova entering Bulgaria from Turkey on 19 March. One day earlier gold jewellery worth over EUR 27,000 were found in a car with a Bulgarian registration. The third instance is from 17 March, when 938.28 grams of gold jewellery worth more than EUR 43,160 was found inside a truck travelling from Turkey to the UK. Pre-trial proceedings have been initiated.
