The capital's mayor, Vasil Terziev, recalled the commitment to have at least one working lift on Vitosha by the end of his term in 2027. At a briefing on the non-working facilities in the mountain, he stated that there is no way one could expect the problem to be solved for six months, as it is inherited from the former administration of the Sofia Municipality and dates back to 2007.
"GERB is trying to blame someone else for something they created by selling the lifts with a crazy contract that does not protect our interests in any way," the mayor commented. Municipal Councilor Boris Bonev from "Save Sofia" added that the party sold the lift facilities for the meager sum of 4 million euros.
Earlier today, the GERB-SDS group in the Sofia Municipal Council demanded the resignation of the deputy mayor on legal matters and accused Vasil Terziev of inaction regarding the Simeonovo lift.
