New car sales in Bulgaria in October increased three times more than the average for the European Union, where the purchase of new cars is only 1.1%.

According to the Association of European Automobile Manufacturers, 75.9% of cars registered in Bulgaria in 2024 are with gasoline and 15% are diesel, while hybrids and electric cars are the least bought.

In the EU, sales of petrol cars fell by 6.8%, with the biggest declines recorded in France down by 32.7%, and Italy - down by 10.1%.

Petrol cars now account for 30.8% of the market, up from 33.4% in the same month last year. Demand for diesel cars was down 7.6%, with a market share of 10.9% last year.

As an overall trend, reductions were seen in almost two-thirds of EU markets.
