Pazardzhik hosts the 14th edition of Sunny Besapara Cheerleading Festival

540 cheerleaders will transform the town of Pazardzhik (Southern Bulgaria) into a true stage of grace, rhythm and color. Over the course of two days (June 6 and 7), talented children from 21 towns and cities across the country will demonstrate their skills in a sport that is rapidly growing in popularity in Bulgaria.

The 28 teams will compete in 4 age groups and 4 competition categories, vying not only for 1st, 2nd and 3rd place, but also for 7 special awards.

''These include the award for youngest cheerleader, the jury’s award, the Municipal Children’s Center award, a prize for visual presentation, and of course the grand prize — the ''Sunny Besapara'' prize. The name of the festival comes from the ancient Thracian settlement of Besapara, which was located in the area around Pazardzhik. Since this region enjoys many sunny days, the name ''Sunny Besapara'' naturally followed”, explains Emilia Spasova, director of the Municipal Children’s Center-Pazardzhik and organizer of the event.

These special prizes aren’t the only surprise prepared by the organizers. For this year’s event, held under the patronage of Pazardzhik Mayor Petar Kulenski and with the financial support of the Municipality of Pazardzhik, new special medals have been created featuring the festival’s logo — an elegant cheerleader, designed by Emilia Spasova.

What does this event mean to the children?

''It brings a lot of emotions and many new friendships for both the children and their coaches. They get to compare their routines with those of other teams on stage and can learn many new elements by watching the other cheerleading teams'', says Emilia Spasova.

We wish all participants the best of luck!
