The official language of the Republic of North Macedonia is a southwestern written regional norm of the Bulgarian language and can therefore be designated as North Macedonian Bulgarian. This conclusion has been reached by scientists from the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences and university professors who collected their research in a new publication entitled  "On the official language of the Republic of North Macedonia", which was presented today.
Linguistic proximity requires enhanced cultural and media exchanges between the two countries without the need for "internal language translation", including in the form of adaptations of theatrical productions, films, literary works so they could be mutually accessible and familiar on both sides of the border, the researchers said.
