Lyubcho Georgievski: North Macedonia and Bulgaria are "lost in translation"

Photo: BGNES

"My team and I had a fruitful meeting with our friend from North Macedonia and its prime minister (1998-2002), Lyubcho Georgievski." This was written on the Facebook page of Bulgarian Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ekaterina Zaharieva.

In an interview with BGNES, Georgievski said that the purpose of his visit to Sofia was to warm up relations between the two countries, which would lead to solving the disputes between them. "There was a movie called Lost in Translation. I believe that Bulgaria and North Macedonia are in this exact situation at the moment. Both sides think that the other was somehow taking something from them and this creates a sense of hostility," Georgievski said. He added it would not be a good solution if Bulgaria decided to veto Macedonia's path to the EU because of the disputes.
