The first hydrogen charging station in the country – as part of the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences’ field laboratory Integrated Energy Systems of the Centre of Competence Hitmobile – was officially unveiled in Sofia. The station was produced by the Austrian company EDC-Anlagentechnik.
“This is the first field laboratory for testing and developing pure energy systems,” said Evelina Slavcheva, chair of the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences General Assembly.
The hydrogen from the station is very high grade. It is sufficient for direct use by vehicles and can refuel up to 15 cars or 2 buses daily. There is only one hydrogen car in the country, part of the project of the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences’ Centre of Competence, but Evelina Slavcheva says she is hoping this is going to change soon.
According to the hydrogen roadmap of Bulgaria, next year there will be 120 hydrogen cars in the country and 5 hydrogen stations, and in the period up to 2030 – 600 vehicles and another 14 hydrogen fueling stations.
